CONFINED FREEDOM
'Confined Freedom', The Basement Gallery Subiaco WA Australia, September 2018

Most of us do not acknowledge or do not notice the inherent contradictions between freedom and confinement in our everyday life. It can be the tension of being a parent, a partner, a worker. Especially in those very normal, regular places, we are constantly in a personal battle. We are actually the cause for our own restrictions – we joined a partnership, we entered parenthood, we applied for a job. But once achieving those goals, we become oppressed.
At times the confined is the freedom “from”, yet other times it is the freedom “to”.
The tension is even higher and more powerful since we both want the good of our “captivator” (one’s partner, child or work) on one hand, and in the same time wish our freedom, self governing, creativity back.

The concept is underlining the gap, giving weight to that inherent contradiction between freedom and confinement in our daily life. Shading a light over those unnoticed places that restrain the core of our freedom.

It might be your gender, skin color, faith, that are a cause for society to compromise your freedom
